In 1970:

Edw. C. Levy Co. starts Concrete Components Co. to make hollow core, pre-stressed concrete building members, and builds a new plant in Novi, Michigan.

A new central-mix concrete plant is erected in Romulus, Michigan.

In 1971:

A preheater is built on the rotary kiln at Detroit Lime Co. in Michigan to increase plant production.

In 1972:

Edw. C. Levy Co. purchases the ready-mix and sand & gravel business of South Lake Service Co. in South Bend, Indiana and begins operating as St. Joseph Materials Co

The former Peerless Cement Plant in Detroit is purchased and operation begins as Jefferson Marine Terminal (JMT) for receiving, grinding, and shipping cement.

Edw. C. Levy Co. purchases Cadillac Asphalt Paving Co.

Edw. C. Levy Co. develops a patented process to chemically treat slag cooling water to eliminate odor emissions.

In 1973:

Hatchet, Inc. is created to perform foundry waste scrap recovery operations with portable plants.

Gravel Trucking Co. is formed to operate a fleet of dump trucks & trailers specially designed to haul hot asphaltic mixtures, construction debris, and for steel mill servicing.

In 1974:

Indian Trucking Co. in Burns Harbor, Indiana is formed to move aggregates in northern Indiana.
