coarse aggregate, produced by crushing, washing and screening high calcium or dolomitic
limestone. A white to light gray colored
sedimentary rock formed by the precipitation of calcium carbonate from sea water. The particles are sized from 1 1/2” (37.5mm)
to 3/8” (9.5mm). |

| The 6AAA Limestone and M•DOT 4AA coarse aggregate
should be proportioned in the batch plant into a 40 percent 4AA and 60 percent 6AAA by weight blend as detailed in the
“Grade P1 Modified” specification. The
coarse aggregates should then be blended into the concrete mixture along with the cement,
fine aggregate, water, admixtures and any special additives in the proportions detailed in
the mix design. Care needs to be taken to
minimize the amount of handling of the 6AAA Limestone as handling operations will cause
‘dusting’ of the aggregates particles, increasing the amount of material passing
the #200 mesh (75µm sieve) |
